Sharing a Bathroom

All of you who have seen (or just heard about) our place knows that our bathroom is in a separate building than the rest of our house. The door of the bathroom has to be left slightly ajar to allow ventilation for the water heater, which is right there in the same room as the shower, sink and toilet (no doubt a building code violation, but anyway…). We have many visitors… flies, moths, sometimes mice and, of course, spiders.

We have no idea what kind of spider this is, but it’s big. Granted, it’s body is small, but… ick… let’s just say it’s no longer among the living. I’m a tolerant girl, but I was not sharing my shower with that creature.

So, not to one up you or anything...but I had a spider about the same length, with a thicker body, and thicker legs in my living room. It now lives inside my vacuum cleaner. If I had tried to squash it, it would have fought back, or at least left a mess that I would not want to clean up. Here is a picture of a similar spider: http://www1.istockphoto.com/file_thumbview_approve/131991/2/istockphoto_131991_hobo_spider_landscape.jpg

The really awesome part, the spider was either the very poisonous "hobo spider," or a completely harmless spider that looks almost exactly like the hobo spider.
