Found Object, Day 1
What is it? I have no idea. But it was in our attic.

It looks to me like a vacuum tube transistor or something similar. Those were used in pre-silicon transistor era computers. They are still used in computers designed to resist EMP attack (like in missile launching silos)I'd like to see it up close.
I'm trying to think of something that would be lying around a house that might look like this. Could it be the magnetron for a microwave oven? I've never actually seen one so I'm just guessing. On the other hand it does look like a automobile light element. Are there any markings or printing on it? You might actually be able to Google the part number in that case.
Please do not leave annoymous comments.
