I promise to stop talking about the weather soon...

... but I just had to share this with all of you. Saturday night, Steve and I were just about ready to go to bed when we heard (and felt!) a tremendous thud. Steve commented "that was some huge branch" to which I replied "more like a tree!" And... well...

Sadly, the picture doesn't do it justice and there is very little perspective, as this is behind a neighbors fence and I couldn't get close to it. This is the top 1/3 of a redwood tree. It's at least 2 feet in diameter and maybe a dozen feet long.

Luckily the magical generator kept it from falling into nearby powerlines.
