We decided to place some pavers in the lawn to create a sturdy base and make the area look more intentional than simply a fire bowl sitting on the lawn. Attractive pavers being out of our price range at the moment, we settled on basic 1-foot concrete squares. In an attempt to make them more appealing, I painted a design on them that I copied loosely from a Spanish tile.
We were pleased with the results and prepared to place them in the lawn when we realized that we had not measured correctly for the fire bowl's feet. Back to Home Depot we went, where we found some inexpensive thin brick pavers. We had mixed results breaking the bricks to size, but that part will be under the fire bowl anyway, so it was good enough for me.
I think the fire area looks pretty good. We're looking forward to using it once the summer nights get pleasant (it's actually still pretty cold at night around here).

Looks very nice. Your backyard must be looking pretty good now.
Would it be too opinionated of me so say that I think it would look even better if you painted the smaller pavers to match one or the colors in your original design scheme?
It's certainly an option we considered. I felt that painting the bricks one color from the original scheme would make that color overpowering. I thought about trying to do some sort of design using multiple colors, but was not satisfied with the options I came up with. After leaving it alone for a few days, I decided that I'm satisfied with it as is. What would have looked best is if we had measured properly to begin with and laid out the design accordingly. But, really, when gazing around the yard, it's not particularly noticeable, so it works for me.
