This is a somewhat awkward area next to our deck.
We found some paving stones at Home Depot that we thought would make an interesting border to hold in mulch and create a barrier for the lawnmower. Steve then placed the pavers and turned under the straggly grass.
There was a ridiculously varied selection of mulch at Home Depot, but we settled on a black-dyed variety that we thought would look really striking in the yard.
End result:
Steve went through the same process of placing the pavers, clearing the weeds and mulching another awkward area next to our shed.
It occurs to me that all I ever post about anymore is the rabbits and the garden, but honestly, that's pretty much all we do these days. Although we did host Steve's oldest brother Edward and Edward's family for dinner on Thursday since they were camping in the area. We also had ice cream with them Friday night and hung out around the campfire at their campground afterward. Naturally, I forgot to take any pictures. I just don't have the photographer's instinct.

Your yard is looking really nice. Is this how you deal with the desire to have your own house?
Wow, the difference is amazing. I think it looks wonderful.

Your landlord should be very impressed. It is a good thing you are doing before and after pictures.

To Natalie's comment: yeah, pretty much. We're dealing with the house envy any way we can.
Hi Lisa and Steve, I like your blog. I am glad to hear that you are enjoying your new place.
Cheers, Karen
