They reshaped the planter bed around the tree in the corner of the yard and planted two bags of mixed bulbs.
They brought up an umbrella stand courtesy of my grandparents to complete our outdoor seating area.
They helped with quite a bit of weeding in our large bed of bulbs (which is coming along nicely) and helped us select and plant some annuals to fill it out. What a difference from the dirt patch!

My mom also helped me select some succulents. I love desert plants, but we live in a pretty wet climate for them, so I’m settling for a small pot of desert.
Steve was able to complete his veggie area, with tomato plants and what will eventually be chard.
Steve’s apple tree is looking quite happy.
Steve was also able to get some consultation on where to place two birds of paradise and some phormium he got at CostCo.
I didn’t manage to get my act in gear to take pictures while my parents were actually here, but I got one of Steve pulling dandelions which gives a good overview of the backyard.
We also have a very happy rhododendron!
Steve and my dad also removed the floor of the metal shed we have that had evidence of rat occupation when we moved in. Finding that the back of the shed had been bend outward, creating a gap for critters, they pushed it back in, put the floor back down and cleaned up the edges with foam sealant. It should be much less inviting to critters now. We are storing our gardening and camping supplies out there now.
Our backyard is really becoming an enjoyable space. Thank you so much for what you did to make it possible, Mom and Dad!

Very impressive. You were meant to have a yard (or help others keep up theirs!)
