Shedding

From the first day I laid eyes on what would become Steve's and my otherwise completely awesome home, I have hated this shed:
I cropped it out of pictures of the backyard as best I could. I tried to ignore it's massively ugly, massively blue presence. I tried to tell myself, it's not that bad. But it was that bad.

Other projects took priority, thus the shed remained. Day after day, I'd look out the window, and there it was.

However, this weekend was beautiful. Warm, with cool sea breezes that brought with them a true breath of fresh air: the demise of that horrible shed.

Steve pries up roofing shingles:
The shingles and underlying plywood were actually somewhat tricky to remove. That completed, demolition accelerated.
Steve attempts to break apart the former shed's base:
Finding said base tougher than it had any reason to be by virtue of a ridiculous number of very long nails, Steve contemplates his options:
Always lacking in finesse, I suggest we just take a saw to the darn thing. Steve obliges with the circular saw:
The shed is dead! Victory is mine!
Granted, we now have to look at our ugly fence instead of the ugly shed, but I think it's a massive improvement. In the coming weeks, we will be planting tomatoes and peppers in the cleared space. Steve didn't really fully understand my loathing of that shed, but I am grateful he was willing to work so hard to get rid of it. I will sleep better tonight knowing that blasted thing is gone.

I always thought the yard looked a little lopsided in your photos. Now I know why.

It was lopsided out of disgust and shame. But no more! A new day has dawned!
