As you all know, life is pretty up-in-the-air right now for us. Steve applied to graduate school at UC Davis and Cal State Long Beach (after an unsuccessful attempt to get into UC Santa Cruz) and has sporadically applied to job openings in Southern California (none have come through).
Today our options were narrowed slightly… well, sort of. Steve did not get in to UC Davis; his undergraduate grades weren’t high enough for their competitive graduate program. But upon hearing that Steve was looking at other graduate school options, his boss (who is a professor and head of a chemistry lab at UC Santa Cruz) decided to try again to get Steve into UC Santa Cruz. If he manages to pull this off, Steve would be doing his graduate studies in the same lab where he currently works as staff. Steve would be doing a Master’s program in Chemistry, which should take about two years.
We’ll continue to update as we hear back from all the assorted options.
