While I've been sitting on the couch...

All sorts of house projects have been in progress.

Steve has been gradually painting our little peach house a lovely yellow.

Steve works with a paint sprayer borrowed from my father on the back of our house:
A job well done (as always):
Steve works on the front of the house:
My parents visited at the end of February to give Steve a hand since I've been fairly incapacitated.

Steve and my dad pour a new slab for upcoming air conditioner installation:
My folks and Steve working in the garden:
Steve continues the gardening yesterday, planting a little Japanese maple we picked from our local nursery:
We hired out installation of our whole-house heating and air conditioning. We hate having to hire things out, but since our house had no existing system (just one wall heater in the living room) I felt the installation from scratch would be a bit too much to handle. The crew was nice, clean and worked quickly. But, of course, their finish work left a little to be desired.

Steve uses a tiny roller to touch up paint around the bathroom wall register (after he touched up the crew's finish work):
And Steve somehow still finds time to take care of me and to make delicious meals for us (this is shepherd's pie mac-n-cheese in progress):
And onward we march, toward our family of four...

You're getting A/C in Santa Cruz, and I still don't have it in LBC?!

Where's that grumpy cat emoticon...

Yeah, we have a lot of skunks in our neighborhood, so not a good idea to leave windows open at night to let the breeze cool things off (learned that the hard way). That, and since the kiddos are due in August, I figured getting A/C along with the heat was a good plan. I do feel a little spoiled though.
