Ten more days...

Today we received word that the bank (that owns the home we've been in contract on for the past 90+ days) signed our final addendum. This addendum ironed out a few outstanding issues and set a final closing date of on or before (if our lender is ready earlier) July 26th. Which means that sometime in the next ten days we'll become homeowners! Well, not so much homeowners as mortgage holders, but whatever. 

I drove by the house after work today in somewhat of a daze. It's astounding to me that we'll have a place of our own. A place that if something doesn't work quite right, we can actually fix it properly instead of dealing with our landlord's half-hearted repairs. A place that has the exact appliances we want, not the cheapest our landlord's money could buy. Where I can paint the walls whatever crazy color I want. Where we can install drip irrigation to finally water our garden properly and without the waste. Where all of the decisions are up to us. 

Steve and I have been ready, in spirit if not in finances, for a house for a long time now. Ten more days...
