Steve recently received his acceptance letter to the graduate program at Cal State Long Beach. While it’s an option we are definitely considering, we want to wait and see what the results are of Steve’s boss’s attempt to get him into UC Santa Cruz. This decision should be rendered sometime around the end of 2009 (he would start school in January 2010 if it happens). Since he was accepted to CSULB, it is our understanding that Steve should be able to re-apply without re-submitting all of his paperwork to CSULB for fall of 2010 should the UCSC option not work out.
We are very torn about the whole thing. We miss our family and friends in Southern California, but right now we have excellent jobs in Santa Cruz and a lot of independence. Not to mention, should Steve even give up his income to do grad school at all? It’s scary to think about any of the options. We look back at our lives and all the decisions that have lead us to this point; how do you know which path to choose? (by the way, that’s a hypothetical question, not an invitation for people to lobby for us to end up in one place or the other)
So, in closing, we don’t know what we’re doing any more than we did last month. We’re not likely to make any decision in this matter until we find out if Steve can get into UC Santa Cruz. So we’ll update this situation later this year.

I certainly hope the fact that we have been prohibited from lobbying, doesn't eliminate the opportunity to congratulate Steven on his acceptance to graduate school. That is not an empty achievement!
We certainly hope you'll be able to research the possibilities and make a well-informed decision that will please the two of you the most. After all, it is your lives!
Yes, I want to congratulate him as well, that is great!
shout out to Steve!
Shucks, no lobbying! Y'know, I could put off the whole "chickens" thing for awhile...
